Teaching since 1999, Dawn opened DawnArt Studios LLC in Atlanta and is teaching classes and workshops there. She has also taught at SCAD Atlanta and The Atlanta College of Art and continues to teach at Art Centers both locally and nationally.  Each year she gives her students a chance to plan, advertise, and hang their own group show in an Atlanta gallery. As part of the 2006 High Museum of Art Louvre Atlanta Summer Teaching Institute, Dawn designed and taught a workshop titled Self Portrait: Fit for a King, creating a lesson plan for students in grades K-12 that is now available for educators nationwide. 

Dawn Kinney Martin is an award winning artist from Atlanta with national and international collectors. Recognition for her expressive oil paintings includes several awards in plein air competitions, fine art festivals and purchase awards. Most recently,  Elizabeth City Plein Air Competition, Art Station Plein Air Competition, Mount Gretna Arts Festival, Judges Choice award, 2015 and 2014, acceptance at an Artists in Residence Program in Elizabeth City, NC, June 2013, November 2014 and a Merit Award from Manhattan Arts International Museum in New York for their juried exhibition, Herstory.  Dawn has also been recognized for creative contribution and service by the Brookhaven Arts Alliance. Her work hangs in the permanent collection of the Harris Arts Center in Georgia, and can be seen in juried fine art festivals throughout the country as well as in regional galleries.
